Steph

I am a dedicated and passionate Practitioner with over 21 years’ experience of working with young people. Over the past 8 years, I have specialised in supporting young people with SEND and those with social, emotional, and mental health needs. I am committed to improving outcomes for young people and communities, with a strong focus on understanding the wider social environments that influence behaviour. I also have lived experience of neurodiversity, alongside a wealth of experience in supporting children with attendance difficulties and barriers to education.

In addition, I have undertaken a qualification in Animal Assisted Play Therapy (AAPT) and, for the past 18 months, have been working alongside my young dog, Jessie, to enhance engagement and therapeutic support. I am driven by a belief in early intervention and the importance of empowering individuals to feel safe, supported, and heard.

Lucy

Hi, I’m an art practitioner with a lifelong passion for creative learning. Art has always been my way of understanding the world, and now it’s the tool I use to help young people express themselves, build confidence, and discover new ways of engaging with education.

I graduated from Staffordshire University in 2022 with a first-class honours degree in Illustration, and since then I’ve worked across a variety of creative fields. My experience includes illustrating children’s books, designing props for television companies, and creating bespoke stationery for a local charity. These projects have given me a deep appreciation for imagination, storytelling, and practical creativity, insights that I bring into every session I deliver. I also developed my own business selling personalised prints and commissioned pieces, as well as my own work.

As a practitioner, I specialise in using art as a bridge to connection, exploration, and learning. Whether through drawing, painting, mixed media, or simple creative play, my aim is always the same: to provide a safe, encouraging space where every young person can thrive in their own unique way.

Jessie

Hello, my name is Jessie, and I am a friendly therapy dog who loves helping children and young people feel safe, calm, and confident.

I work alongside Steph to support young people through Animal-Assisted Interventions and activities. I enjoy spending time with people, whether that's sitting quietly for a cuddle, joining in with games and activities, or accompanying young people as they build confidence in their homes, schools, or communities.

I understand that some days can feel difficult or overwhelming. My job is to provide comfort, companionship, and a calming presence without judgement. Many young people find it easier to relax, talk, and develop new skills when I am by their side.

When I'm not working, I enjoy walks, treats, playing with my toys, and spending time with my family.  I especially love going to the beach!

Jessie's Special Skills: Providing comfort and emotional support, helping reduce anxiety and stress, encouraging communication and social interaction, supporting confidence and self-esteem, being an excellent listener, giving lots of tail wags and smiles.
